LATEST RELEASE

Keeping up the momentum, Nullarbor is the new pocket-rocket single from the boys, bringing a new level of guitar and bass-driven aggression.

Coupling a traditional rock vocal performance with tidy percussive elements, The Minties bring you a fresh new track full of the things that really matter; lawlessness, sex, cars and women.

Short, sharp and to the point, Nullarbor is a release dripping with energy and grit, a blue sky and a bit of red dirt.

LIGHT ME UP EP

The Minties have made an exciting return, debuting their first multi-track release THE 'LIGHT ME UP'. The four-track EP delves deeper into landscape of The Minties sound exploring the unique syncopated stylings heard on their first and only official release, Guarantee. Through the course of the four tracks: Dust Mother, Other Brother, Transporter and Pull Me Close, The Minties display an army of different influences.

The opening track, Dust Mother, embodies a dry vocal performance and wiry guitar riffs to deliver a sound parallel with The Minties debut release. Rolling through the EP, tracks Other Brother and Transporter showcase a farther reaching soundscape for the band. While Other Brother takes on a brooding surrealist tone with a bass fuzz drive not previously seen from the group, Transporter  is a slow guitar tune lamenting the loss of singer, Nick Christie’s, beloved Volkswaggen. The melodic yet softer instrumentation is another step into the varied soundscape of the release. Both tracks represent a stylistic freedom and the melting pot of influences within the group.

The final track, Pull Me Close, again takes a different direction. While creating a vocal narrative more akin to the crooning delivery of Guarantee or Dust Mother, Pull Me Close delivers a huge guitar number with some mammoth choruses, tying the release together while displaying another level of blues rock energy.

Continuing to play shows around NSW, The Minties are ready to share their latest creation.

OTHER BROTHER

Other Brother is a lament of missed opportunity. A nod to the beauty of how our failings shape us, Other Brother is about growing up next to the big city with shelter from the real world that suburban upbringings unknowingly provide.

With lyrics inspired by the melancholic wailings of the 2000s post-punk revival and a delivery reminiscent of Nick Cave, Other Brother is a thought in motion. A driven growl from the baseline, and a crisp percussive execution are balanced with a heavy handed guitar riff that never seems to sit still. The sound feels disjointed at first before finding its feet with a romantic answer to a somewhat dysphoric question.

TRANSPORTER

TRANSPORTER-LRGSIZE.jpg

Inspired by a holiday gone wrong, Transporter follows an ill-advised journey travelling the east coast of Australia, living in a VW transporter van.

Driven by buzzing electric guitar and countered with soft lyrical stylings, Transporter describes the ups and downs of a romantic expedition fraught with breakdowns and misadventure. A subdued bass and melding guitar ebb and flow with the groove of the passionate narrative. With inspiration taken from Australian Crawl, Transporter is a steady drive to nowhere.

GUARANTEE

The debut release from Sydney-based The Minties, Guarantee is the first dip into the Australian band scene from the alternative rock boys. Creating an attitude-dripping sound from the get go, Guarantee kicks off with a vocal melody riding on steady bass, guitar and coupled with solid percussive backing.

While guitar features heavily in The Minties signature sound, the band find a middle ground, defining their individual tone through their blend of alt rock. Through the building verses and blinding choruses, the band lays down the groundwork for the sound we've come to expect in later releases.
